In December of 2020 and for Nan's birthday, we decided to have a little "staycation" in San Diego. We both have been under a lot of stress and just needed a place to rest and unwind away from home, so we opted for a beach place in La Jolla.
The area that we chose was not crowded and very serene. We could not think of anything more blissful than the relaxing sound of the ocean. If you closed your eyes for a few minutes it could put you in a restful trance, yes, you know the one. Hearing the waves crashing and the smell of the sand we asked ourselves, "why don't we do this more often?, we only live 15 minutes away from here!"
One early morning at dawn, during the brief twilight period just before sunrise, I set my camera up and took a few photos of this serene seascape being lit by the moon. At this moment, the light of the moon reflected on the small waves hitting the beach. Contemplating this beautiful scene makes one think that peace abounds in this world. In the evenings after dinner and just around sunset, I took my camera out again and shot a few frames of the surfers coming out of the water, talking with other surfers about their day, about the good waves of the day and what they experienced. All and all, I think everybody had a good day.
The beach gave us the perfect dose of tranquility we both were needing.
